Privacy
Your eBird file is read in your browser and goes nowhere. This page says what the site keeps and what it does not.
Your file
When you drop a CSV, the page reads it with code that runs on your device. The file is not uploaded, and no copy exists on a server.
If you click the button to buy the PDF, the page first saves the file, your choices and a random reference code in your browser’s own storage (IndexedDB), so it can find them when Stripe sends you back. The data stays in your browser. Clear this site’s data in your browser settings and it is gone.
Payment
Payment happens on Stripe’s page, under Stripe’s privacy policy. This site does not see your card. The random reference code is added to the payment so a receipt can be matched to a purchase; it is not made from your file or your name.
When Stripe sends you back, the page asks its own small endpoint on this site to check with Stripe that the payment is complete. That check sends the payment’s session id and nothing else. The result is not stored. After a confirmed payment, your browser keeps a note that you have paid: the session id and the time, in local storage. It is what lets you come back to the downloads on the same device.
What is not here
- No account, no sign-in and no email address to give.
- No advertising and no tracking cookies.
- No third-party script except Cloudflare’s page-view counter, described next.
Hosting and the page-view counter
The site is served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare also runs a cookieless page-view counter on these pages (Cloudflare Web Analytics): when a page loads, a small script from Cloudflare reports that the page was viewed, with the kind of browser and the country it came from, so the site’s owner can see how many people visit. It sets no cookie and does not follow you from site to site. It never sees your file, which stays in your browser.
Like any web host, Cloudflare also handles the requests for pages and files and keeps its own logs of them.
Questions
After you pay, reply to your Stripe receipt. There is no email address on this site by design, so before you pay, these pages and the code that runs in your browser are the whole of it.
